Raising Mother Is Seeking Submissions to Commemorate #Stonewall50!

We’re opening submissions for this special call from June 4th to June 17th

Raising Mothers is currently accepting submissions for a special feature to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. We are interested in showcasing expressions of chosen and activist LGBTQIA+ mother/child relationships from BIPOC women and nonbinary writers—in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, graphic narrative, and hybrid writing. Given that BIPOC trans women catalyzed the Stonewall riots that changed LGBTQIA+ life in the United States, we will prioritize BIPOC trans women and children for this call. The deadline for this special call is June 17.

 

Raising Mothers is seeking submissions in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, graphic narrative and hybrid writing to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots. We will prioritize BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) trans women and children for this call.

Length is up to you; most essays we publish fall between 1500-4000 words. Poetry should be at least 3-5 pieces.

Deadline is June 17 for all submissions.

Sherisa de Groot (she/her) is a writer, community builder, and founder of Raising Mothers, literary membership community Literary Liberation, and pens A Home Within Myself. With a focus on intersectionality and social justice, de Groot’s writing explores the nuances of motherhood and the experiences of BIPOC mothers and marginalized genders. Through her work, she aims to amplify the voices of those who have been historically silenced and create a more equitable world for all.
